Our Story

Three generations, one olive grove, one fire.

Tucked into the slope of Afilianes, a quiet hamlet above Platania in South Pelion, To Ktima has been the Voulgari family's home and kitchen for generations. The view stretches across olive trees to the open sea and Skiathos island.

In 1990, at the insistence of some loyal customers, they decided to open their own tavern at the current location in Afilianes, converting the old family home into a tavern.

What began as a place to feed neighbors and travelers has become a small destination of its own: an unhurried meal under the grapevine, cooked the way it has always been cooked here.

Although the tavern is far from busy areas, the customers of the Voulgaris family do not hesitate about crossing a few extra kilometers when they know that they will taste the traditional lamb with potatoes slow-cooked in the wood-fired oven, or the rabbit with plums.

The Kitchen

Cooked over wood. The way Pelion taught us.

At the heart of the kitchen is a traditional wood-fire oven, lit every day.

The slow heat is what gives our oven-baked dishes their depth, and our homemade bread its crust.

Nothing about it is for show โ€” it's simply how the food is meant to taste.

A Pelion First

Every dessert,
made by hand.

We are the only taverna in Pelion that makes its entire dessert menu in-house, by hand, every day. Kiounefe with ice cream, chocolate tart, panna cotta, lemon tart, Aisaraya pudding and many other exclusive recipes that you can only find in our own tavern. Ask for the sweet plate at the end of your meal. It is not an afterthought here โ€” it is the reason many guests return.

"In a region where sweets rarely find a place in the restaurant landscape, Giorgos' desserts seem like a small revolution."
